Tenure track faculty position in soil microbiology
The Department of Soil Science seeks applications for a tenure track faculty position in soil microbiology. Soil microbiology is a core research area in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and this position is integral to undergraduate and graduate programs in soil and environmental sciences. The candidate will explore topics in soil microbiology research such as: nutrient cycling in managed and natural ecosystems, soil biodiversity, including soil fauna, single-celled eukaryotes, fungi, bacteria, archaea, and/or viruses, human and soil ecosystem health, pathogens in the soil environment, greenhouse gas production and carbon cycling, novel molecular and bioinformatic techniques within the field of environmental microbiology, soil microhabitats and biophysics. The candidate should be able to work cross-disciplinarily, enhancing linkages across the food-water-energy nexus. The teaching component of the position would entail a minimum of instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level and over time, a summer course.
